Mission East remains unwavering in our mission to address pressing needs of the affected population and to help attacked communities recover. In Ukraine, we do this – together with the communities and local authorities – by rebuilding homes and social institutions and by providing psychosocial support and bomb shelters for schools. In our rebuilding efforts we give also priority to the climate by demonstrating how materials from destroyed buildings and other waste streams can be reused as building materials preventing carbon emission and protecting local environments.
The Mission East humanitarian commitment to Leave No One Behind is seen in our mode of operation in Ukraine, through our engagement of returning war veterans in our work. This often both traumatized and disabled target group is this way offered a new, meaningful role in the community, supporting their social rehabilitation.
Mission East’s operation in Ukraine takes mainly place in Mykolaiv region, where an office was established in 2023. We work closely with communities, local authorities, civil society partners and private sector partners offering unique technical skills. We apply innovation and build new learning that contributes to an increased efficiency of the overall recovery and rebuilding of Ukraine.
