Amina, 10, has experienced the horrors of war

Yet she has found the courage to smile again

Without you, dear Lion Mom, a child risks being trapped alone in their painful memories from the war. With you, they have a hand to hold when the world feels cold and harsh.

The fighting raged just outside the home of this little 10-year-old girl. She couldn’t flee with her family and was forced to stay in what felt like a living nightmare.

Do children go to heaven when they die, Mom… if they’re hit by a bomb?

It’s not a strange question from a child in Syria, where 75% of children have been born into the war. Here, the war shows no mercy. Daily exposure to bombs and violence has left Amina with severe trauma.

When bombs fell from the dark sky, Amina was terrified. Her whole body would shake, and her tiny fingers clung tightly to her mother’s arms. Her mother would comfort her, saying the fighting would stop. But the truth was that the battles continued until Amina turned 10.

Even today, Amina carries deep scars from the war.

The support and care she receives from professional trauma experts is crucial for her future. Through the Family House in Aleppo, you can help provide Amina with the vital crisis support she needs—so she doesn’t have to face these frightening experiences alone.

All Amina wants is to be a normal girl, playing with Barbie dolls. Experts tell us that, with the help of the Family House in Aleppo, she will one day reach that place.

It wouldn’t be possible without you. But with your support, we can provide crisis care to your Lion Cub—making a real difference.

How does war trauma affect children?

Children in Syria has experienced horrors no child should ever face

Children who have witnessed the war firsthand often carry deep trauma. For many, this leads to PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Therapeutic approaches used at the Family House help children put words to their fears—so they can move what’s trapped in their minds into the open.

For example, children draw their greatest fears on paper butterflies and then release them. This simple yet powerful exercise helps heal the wounds of war. These tools give children new hope—hope that can light a path out of the darkness.
