Sudan: There is no substitute for clean water

In Sudan’s West Darfur region, families fleeing the conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and inter-communal violence arrive in makeshift camps with almost nothing. Mothers walk for miles to find water, children sleep on the ground without blankets, and the risk of disease spreads quickly. The situation is dire, but humanitarian assistance makes a real difference.

By repairing broken water pumps and giving families essential supplies, Mission East, together with LM International, is ensuring families have access to clean water, can cook a meal, sleep in safety and with dignity, and stay healthy in unimaginably difficult and insecure conditions.

Even in temporary camps there is opportunity to build community. Tools and supplies were given to community groups who committed to actively participate in clean-up projects and to maintain waste management.

This work contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation and Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being. By ensuring access to safe water, improving hygiene, and supporting displaced families, we’re helping to reduce health risks and improve the resilience and well-being of communities facing catastrophic conditions.

The crisis in Sudan isn’t over, and we’re committed to doing more. With your support, we can keep delivering life-saving aid to those who need it most. Join us in bringing relief and resilience to families in Sudan.
