Hjælp Nordkoreas sårbare børnefamilier

Projektbaggrund

North Korea's rural population is currently in the midst of an prolonged humanitarian crisis. According to the UN, 18 million out of a total population of 25 million need help. The recently tightened sanctions against the country are expected to further aggravate the crisis. Lack of clean water, proper sanitation and adequate nutrition make North Korean families extra vulnerable. Small children are particularly at risk.

Projektmål

Improve the quality of life for rural populations in North Korea through improved food security and health.

Project action

Mission East supports improved food security for vulnerable families by introducing improved farming methods, providing machinery to make farming more efficient, and supporting agroforestry on sloping lands. Agroforestry protects land from degradation, reduces the risk of landslides and flooding and provides an additional source of nutrition and income. The project also provides access to clean drinking water and hygiene knowledge for those in areas particularly lacking basic services. Mission East works with local authorities and relevant government departments and services, building their capacity for quality food security and WASH interventions.
