More than 1.5 million Euros for Afghanistan
Once again, the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs supports Mission East’s work in the north-eastern part of Afghanistan.
Their help amounts to more than 1.5 million Euros for a project assisting the local population in the provinces of Badakshan and Takhar.
Targeting 25,000 inhabitants in 40 villages, the project includes water supply, improvements of rural infrastructure and cultivation of fruits and vegetables in order to improve the nutritional situation of the villagers. Moreover, women are equipped to become self-supporting through the establishment of small businesses, enabling them to send their children to school.
The contract was signed on the 30th of May 2012 at the German Embassy by ambassador Zenner and Managing Director of Mission East, Kim Hartzner.
Since 2001 Mission East has been working in the north-eastern part of Afghanistan and has been supported by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2010.
